The Artist
Where art meets the needle.
Saul Gutierrez was born and raised in Galt, California and now calls Elk Grove home. He is a self-taught, bilingual tattoo artist with over 14 years of experience specializing in watercolor, black and gray realism, sketch style tattoos, and cover ups. His work is rooted in a lifelong relationship with art across a wide range of mediums including graphite, acrylic, watercolor, color pencil, digital illustration, and marker work.
Before tattooing became his full time focus, Saul attended art school in Los Angeles and worked as a CAD designer for civil engineering, custom home design, and flooring firms. He later spent nearly a decade at Apple Inc. in customer service and account security, an experience that instilled in him a deep standard of care, precision, and professionalism that he carries into every client interaction today.
In 2022 he left corporate life behind to commit fully to his art. It was a decision backed by years of sacrifice, the unwavering support of family, friends, and clients, and a belief that the work he does matters. He currently works out of a private studio in Elk Grove where every piece is built around the person wearing it.
The Origin
One attempt.
No looking back.
In 2009, Saul's cousin recognized his artistic ability and gifted him a tattoo kit, encouraging him to apply his eye for art to a new medium. After his first attempt he was immediately captivated. What started as something to explore on the side quickly became the thing he could not put down.
For years he built his skills while balancing a full time career, pouring everything he had into both. The discipline it took to show up for that craft every single day shaped who he is as an artist and how he shows up for his clients.
He has had the privilege of collaborating with talented artists throughout his journey and credits much of his growth to those relationships, along with the continued support of the people who believed in him along the way.
